Personalized gifts are always a big hit at the holidays.  So I thought I’d share with you some new ones on the scene that you may not yet have seen.

Several years ago, I was redoing the tile in our bathroom shower.  It was one of those showers where the tile went all the way up the wall; about six feet up.  The grout was getting pretty bad in many places, so I decided to re-grout the whole thing.  Not a job I recommend, as it was no fun at all. 

One problem I had however was getting light where I needed it to see my work.  The bathroom light wasn’t real strong and I had my back to it.  Plus, because I was actually working in the shower, I couldn’t really find a way to position an alternate light source that did me any good.  So, I actually did buy myself one of these Ultra Lights. 

The Ultra Light attaches right to the front of his ball cap and can be positioned to shine in about any direction.  Perfect for precision work, or even walking or reading in the dark.

To make a long story short, I did eventually finish working on that bathroom after many weekends of work.  My wife was pregnant at the time and was not pleased to have to walk down the hall in the middle of the night.  The Ultra Light made the process go faster.

So it seems that I’m not the only one going crazy for marble runs as evidenced by the versions I’m starting to see on other blogs lately.  Both UberReview and OhGizmo! featured this Magetix I-Coaster.

Found this cool site that allows you to custom build him a stocking.  Pick a stocking design, embroider his name or something else (Big Daddy).  You then can pick from all kinds of things to go inside. Lots of choices including a personalized bottle opener, golf towel, pocket watch, and toothpick holder.

They do have gifts for everyone on your list, but I am impressed with the men’s selection.  Many similar services focus exclusively on women’s gifts and either totally leave out men, or have it as an afterthought.  One of these personalized stockings would be a great gift for your dad, husband, or grandpa .

OK, so you really want to get him a piece of jewelry but you just know he’ll never wear it.  Maybe he’s just too macho or too rough on his hands.  Jewelry just may not be compatible with his “work on the hotrod in the garage” personality.

A tire ring may be a solution.  Available in multiple metals (silver, gold, platinum) they are engraved with a tire pattern.  Choose truck, motorcycle, or mountain bike tread.  I imagine they will even look better with wear as little nicks and dents will add to the appeal.

Didn’t every guy want to be a secret agent when he was a kid?  A life of mystery; that would have been cool.  Remember that cheapo disappearing ink that came in the white plastic bottle?  You’d squirt it on someone’s shirt and as they fumed the stain would magically fade away.  Of course what would really happen was there was still a clear chemical on his shirt and he’d end up with a yellow stain that would never wash out.  Ah the things we did for a laugh.

Well here is an adult version that he can play with (conforms to Rule 2).  This Invisible Ink is pink in the bottle, but dries clear on white paper.  When the paper is gently heated, like in front of a light bulb, the ink turns blue.  The ink will disappear again when the paper cools.

Better yet, maybe a better gift for him would be getting a bottle for yourself and send him dirty little “love notes” that would be hidden from the kid’s eyes.  Creativity counts!  Seen at Rare Bird Finds.

OK, so rarely will a piggy bank be a great gift for men.  However, I have made an exception in this case.  The Pork Knox Piggy Bank (got to love that name) is a chrome covered ceramic bank that features a little golden combination lock on his snout.  What an awesome idea.  Perfect for protecting his collection of wheat pennies or whatever else that might fit inside.  Seen at acquire magazine.

Talking about innovation, I am really impressed with this product.  When traveling, instead of buying those little tiny cans of shaving cream, or risking loosing your shaving cream all together due to liquid restrictions on planes, carry these shaving sheets.  The palm-sized sheets dissolve into shaving cream when you add water.  How cool is that?  Each pack contains 30 sheets.  Seen at The Bachelor Guy.

The other day I got an email from a lady who was trying to help out a client of hers. Her client needed some help finding some gifts for his male employees. Basically, he needed some executive type gifts from the boss. Now she asked for ideas from The Round Table, and I had a few ideas to give. I thought I’d share with you my advice.

1. If the guys enjoy cigars, I’d suggest The Csonka Cigar Traveler. These can be laser engraved on the front with each person’s name, the company name, etc. It’s available in black, tan, or burgundy and are REALLY nice.

4. Also look at this page of travel related gifts. If these guys travel for their jobs a lot, a nice gift could be two of these put together. Maybe one of the duffel bags along with the toiletry bag.
