Ever use a GPS in your car for navigation? Oh, it’s awesome. Mine has a sexy female voice that tells me where to go. I call her Tawny.
In the years that I like to call B.K. (i.e. before kids), I had a motorcycle. My wife was totally against it. She thought it was dangerous, blah, blah. That is until she rode on it. From then on she was hooked. She wanted to ride all the time. Of course the bike went the way of the dodo when she got pregnant for the first time. It was just way to expensive of a toy to never have the time to ride it. I’ll get another one some day.
Anyway, I loved taking the bike out exploring. Just get on a road and see where it takes you. Doing that gave me the opportunity to really get to know the area I lived at the time. I wanted to get more hard core into it, and go on longer rides further from home. However, I didn’t because I was always afraid of getting lost. Sure, I could carry a map in my pocket, but come on.
When I do get a new motorcycle, I’ll totally get this TomTom Rider 2. This GPS is specifically made for mounting to your bike. Plus it’s upgraded with lots of biker friendly features including wireless headset to hear the instructions in your helmet, glove-friendly touch screen, preloaded scenic routes, plus it’s waterproof and vibration resistant. Now, this puppy isn’t cheap, but then again, neither was that bike. There is an optional car mount that you can get to help justify the expense to your wife.
I can imagine keeping the thing off on the way out; looking for interesting roads and happily getting lost in the countryside. Then, when I’ve had enough, switch it on and let it lead me home. Also seen at Gizmodo.
