I’ve always wanted to be a city slicker. No really, remember the movie? I’ve always wanted to go on a vacation where I could be a rancher. Act like the old west, ride horses, learn to throw a lasso, all that cowboy stuff. Maybe one day I’ll get to do that.
Most men have an alter ego. What I mean is there are people they wish they would have been. Maybe he wanted to be a cowboy, or a professional athlete, or an astronaut. Maybe it’s more simple than that. Maybe he just wanted to be a boat captain, or a coffee shop owner. Whatever it is, there is an important lesson here in the goal to understand men. We all have the desire to go back and be a kid again. And part of being a kid, is getting to dream of what you want to be when you grow up.
One of the most overlooked gift options for men is to do something for him, rather than give him something tangible. I found this awesome website, Vocation Vacations. The purpose of this site, is to allow someone to “try out” their dream job. They offer everything from a farmer to private investigator, a song writer to a sword maker. If he is interested in it, chances are there is something here he will enjoy. Most seem to be two day trips and are offered all over the country. Gift certificates are available.
Send him on a trip to be a brew master or a pit crew member. It’ll give him the chance to see if he would have really liked his dream job, or it may lead to a new career. Either way, it’s sure to be a lot of fun and something he’ll never forget. Click here for more information
